Stewardship

What do we mean by Stewardship? Stewardship means we share the God-given material resources we hold, and give them willingly in service and compassion. It is the most important lesson we teach our children. An important part of our struggle and growth in faith is to overcome the power that greed, wealth and money hold over us. Our Christian life together means learning to share of ourselves – through faith, deeds, and gifts. Stewardship means we take responsible ownership of the Church and its mission today, provide for future generations, and respect the legacy of our predecessors.
1 Timothy 6:18
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. At Ascension, we believe that sharing our faith, our labor, and our wealth demonstrates respect for God’s teachings, for God’s children, and for God’s world. We believe stewardship is a joyful act!
2 Corinthians 8:7
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving. Stewardship means we respond to God’s word by preserving the integrity of creation in an interdependent universe. We do this by wisely employing God-given human resources, abilities, and relationships.
