Vestry

Have we got opportunities for you!

Come be a part of our Vestry. That's right the Vestry. Enjoy a monthly meeting with some of the most involved members of Ascension Episcopal and be part of what really happens behind the scenes. There is a lot more to church than Sunday mornings!

What is the Vestry?
The Vestry is the board of directors for the congregation. It is charged with overseeing the temporal, or worldly, activities and affairs of the parish. It is the Vestry, working in cooperation with the Rector and the Wardens that collects and disperses parish funds. It also empowers and represents the volunteer committees that serve the parish.

The Vestry is governed by the canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota and the bylaws of the congregation. The Vestry consists of the Rector, Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and nine members. The parish Treasurer and Secretary also attend Vestry meetings as non-voting participants. The Wardens and Officers serve one-year terms; the nine members are elected for 3-year terms at the annual meeting in January. Vestry meetings are held the third Monday of each month and are open to the parish; at the bottom of this page you can read the past Vestry Minutes in "Vestry Verbiage".

The Executive Committee includes the Rector, Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Treasurer, and Secretary.

See the list of Vestry Members under the "Parish Staff" tab, and send them a message if you have a concern or praise.
