Deepen Awareness
Lenten Program
Lent begs us to come into a deeper awareness of who we are. Because of how the church and Christians have sometimes interpreted that invitation through the years, we may believe that for forty days we are supposed to be depressed, remember all the things we do wrong, and participate in rituals of self-loathing. This is not Lent!
Instead, Lent is time to come to know ourselves more deeply. Through fasting we get in touch with our bodies. Through self-examination we listen to our minds. Through prayer we come to know ourselves more as God knows us. In this deepened awareness we acknowledge the ways in which the human mind and body are made. Some of those ways block us from the divine and the fullness that God wants for us. Some of those ways exquisitely attune us to the divine.
On Sundays this Lent, we invite you to join us for a light lunch and a series of reflections that will deepen awareness of God in us.
The Lenten Program runs Sundays in Lent (February 26, March 4, March 11, March, 18, and March 25) after the 10 a.m. Eucharist in the parish hall with lunch. . Cost for the five Sundays is $30 which includes a course packet. Email the office to sign up or for more information (office
