Mission Statement

We extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to those in need by creating, with God’s help, a healing and spiritual presence for each other and for the St. Croix Valley community, through prayer and healing services, parish nursing, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry, health education events, and by offering opportunities to become involved with Christian healing.

“He called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.” Mark 6:7

At the Church of the Ascension we take these words of Jesus Christ seriously. Jesus was inclusive and turned no one away, despite what custom or law dictated. He healed people who came to him in need, regardless of whether their illness was physical, emotional or spiritual. Jesus understood that bringing God's healing love to others was part of his disciples' ministry. We believe it is part of our ministry as well.
Ascension’s Healing and Wellness Ministry is a holistic ministry deeply rooted in prayer and the Christian healing tradition. It includes a Parish Nurse Ministry, the St. Croix Valley Chapter of the Order of St. Luke (OSL), healing liturgies, study, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry, Prayer Shawl Ministry, spiritual direction, and outreach opportunities that promote body-mind-spirit healing and wellness for members of Ascension and the greater community.

Healing Prayer Requests:

Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry
Healing Touch is an energy-based therapeutic approach to healing and helps to restore harmony and balance in a person’s energy system, enabling a person to heal on all levels—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Healing and Wellness Outreach
Ascension’s Healing and Wellness Ministry has participated in and/or sponsored several outreach activities which have provided opportunities for parishioners and members of the greater community to become involved with Christian healing.

Parish Nurse Ministry
The parish nurse ministry at Ascension focuses on relationship building, the integration of faith and health, the development of a lay pastoral visitation ministry and ongoing research on the available resources within the St. Croix Valley to meet the needs of our members and friends.

Meditation
Non-supplicative prayer (meditation) was an early Christian practice and is still done today in a variety of monasteries-Christian as well as Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim communities.

Yogadevotion
Yogadevotion provides a balanced mind-body-spirit practice, combining hatha vinyasa yoga poses and Christian devotions. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as those with previous yoga experience.

St. Croix Valley Chapter of the Order of St. Luke
OSL is an ecumenical organization dedicated to Christian healing ministry and believes God’s healing power operates within the church, its membership, and that God works and heals through human channels.
