December 2011 Vestry Verbiage

Vestry Verbiage        Linda Amrein, Sr. Warden        December 19, 2011

Rev. Buff Grace opened the December 19 vestry meeting with An Order of Worship for Evening.  The following items or concerns were addressed that evening:

  • Approved minutes of November 14 vestry meeting with corrections.
  • Discussed and received November 2011 financial reports prepared by Treasurer, Christina Arndt.  Work continues on refinancing our mortgage.
  • Written copies were received and verbal comments made on specific reports.  Rector:  Buff suggests we build our culture of giving, in many areas, not only financial; and strengthen our relationships among parishioners.

Mission:  Jen Truman introduced 2012 targeted areas as Community
Building with speaker events, Our Community Kitchen with support to its fund
raising and programming, and working with Episcopal Community Services with
possible family sponsorship.

Ministry:  Possible 2012 tasks include gift discernment workshop, preparing
photo directory, organizing parish talent event, recruiting volunteers.

Management:  Pending and 2012 recommendations include developing yearly
maintenance manual, updating Building Condition Survey of 1986, continuing to
address Manwaring House condition.

Diocesan Convention 2011 verbal report was given by delegate Duane Arndt.

  • Budget 2012 was further discussed.  A more simplified version will be prepared and sent to parish in early January, in preparation for Annual Meeting on January 29.
  • Nominating Committee gave updated written report.  All election slots appear to be filled with one candidate, but to date, all application forms have not been received.
  • Approved adding storm windows to Manwaring House west front door and north door, to improve winterization, at cost of $550.
  • Next vestry meeting is January 16, 2012 at 7:00 pm in parish hall.
