October 2011 Vestry Verbiage

Vestry Verbiage        Linda Amrein, Sr. Warden        October 17, 2011 Rev. Buff Grace opened the October 17 Vestry meeting with an historical reading about St. Ignatius.  The following items or concerns were addressed that evening:

• Agreed to try a different format for our meetings whereby an issue is brought forward, discussion and consensus is reached, motion is then made and voted upon. We anticipate this will help our discussions run more smoothly.
• Approved minutes of 9/19/2011 vestry meeting with correction.
• Discussed and approved treasurer's report for September, including some comments about the August reports, as treasurer was not present at our September meeting.  Steve Smith gave a brief update regarding the Webster/Library trust.
• Power point review about the flooring situation in the nave and narthex was presented by the ad hoc committee, Bob Bilyk, Amy Krumenacker and Barb Toren.  It gave recommended long-term solutions to the floor along with possible restoration of the pews.  A short-term fix recently was completed successfully, in which the carpet was stretched.
• Steve Smith discussed a Strategic Financial Plan for the next 15 months, as requested by vestry in September.  Further discussion will take place as the 2012 budget is prepared.
• Verbal and written reports were received from the Mission/Ministry/Management teams with some specific references to the 2012 budget.
• Buff highlighted aspects of his monthly report, including the fall stewardship campaign. We agreed to authorize up to $2000 for the celebratory reception following the November 20 intake of our pledges.
• Authorized up to $150 for a wireless microphone, to enhance ease of announcements in nave and elsewhere.
• Discussed and came to consensus on specific changes in our bylaws.  They now will be proofread for written consistency.  We expect to present them to congregation at our January 2012 annual meeting, after which the vestry will give its final vote of approval.

Next vestry meeting is November 14, 2011 at 7:00 pm in parish hall.
