We are concluding our journey  through our own Rev. Rachel Toombs’ book: "Reading the First Five Books: The Invitation of the Stories of the Pentateuch" chapter-by-chapter. The book is available at Valley Booksellers or any online retailer. 

Learning to Read the Bible
Fr. Jay will open each session with a 10-15 minute presentation on the method or issue addressed in the chapter and then open the forum for a discussion of the story that is the focus of the session.
 
January 4: Preface and Chapter 1, Learning to Read the Bible
January 11: Chapter 2 Brevity, Leviticus 10:1-7: Filling in the Blanks
January 18: Chapter 3 Pacing, Genesis 22-32: Keep Moving
January 26: No forum due to the Annual Meeting
February 1: Chapter 4 Exodus 3:1-6 Characterization: Moses and God
February 8: Chapter 5 and 6 Genesis 27 Complexity and Grotesque: Really Jacob?
February 15: Chapter 7 Eat this Book: A Good Story is Never Finished.

Beginning Sunday, February 22, we will read through Holy Week the account of Jesus’ journey to the Cross from the Gospel of Matthew. You can find the reading schedule and questions to ponder here. There will be books available in the library (you can donate $20 towards the general plate fund) or purchase the First Nations Version of the New Testament from any online bookseller.
